Whatever You Ask In Prayer

In July, our team went to the Dominican Republic to lead a Youth Leadership Academy event which is designed to develop young leaders. Several churches and a few cities were represented in the 35 student participants. One of my favorite parts about this trip was that I was able to go on it with my daughter, Aurelia. Here are some of her thoughts about the trip:

“And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you keep faith.” Throughout and before my trip to the Dominican Republic, I prayed this verse constantly, asking God to show me something he had never shown me before. Instead of revealing something new to me, instead He reminded me of something I had already known, but forgotten over time. That was a realization about worship…

From my journal on July 12:

“...it was very interesting to go to a church service where I didn't understand most of it. It's so cool to worship with the Dominicans and come to the realization that worship is not stagnant. There isn't one way to do it. The only criteria for worship is that Jesus is getting praised. This trip has helped me understand that idea better because I have just been listening to music and even though I do not understand what they are saying, I know that they are genuine in their faith…”

I will continue to pray this even while I'm not in a different country, because God reminded me that He always knows what He is doing.
